SCRIPTURE VERSE
Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.
Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Guatemala
Violence and crime continue to be a substantial problem in Guatemala.  Please pray for God's protection over the Orphan Outreach staff living in Guatemala.  Pray also that the Lord would protect the children that Orphan Outreach serves and that He would end the violence in this country.

Please pray for the ongoing projects in Guatemala, that they would be completed with excellence and for God's Glory.  Pray that the needy in Guatemala would see God's love through the staff serving them.

India
Pray for the Emmaus team currently serving in India until Friday.
Pray for:
  • safe travels within India and on their journey back home
  • continued good health for each team member
  • humble spirits so that they might be able to do the Lord's work
  • effective ministry with each child and transformed lives by the power of Jesus Christ

Russia
Please pray for the orphanage caregivers and teachers in Russia that each one of them would come to know Jesus in a real and personal way through the Orphan Outreach Bible studies.  Pray specifically for orphanage director Yuriy; pray that he would be open to the truth about Jesus.

We ask for special prayers for Dr. Anatoly Zheleznov, our dear friend, who has been the Director of St. Petersburg’s Hospital #15 for many years.  He was discharged from his position as Director today.  He has devotedly served the many babies and children who came into his care directly from the street, abusive or neglectful homes and from the police.  We have seen him work through incredibly difficult conditions and situations to provide for these children.  We ask for your prayers for him and his family and also for the staff and children of Hospital #15 as they transition to a new director. We also ask that the Lord continue to keep the door open for our staff to share the Gospel with the many children who come to the hospital.  Most of these children only remain there for a short period of time and have never heard that Jesus loves them.

Pray that many volunteers are able to visit the children in the orphanages this month.  Pray that the children would experience the love and compassion of Jesus Christ through these volunteers.
(pictured above) The number of youth participating in the weekly Bible Study at an orphanage in Nikolsky, Russia continues to grow. Pray that these kids would come to accept Christ and would start to attend the the youth club at the local church in Nikolsky.

Please Pray for
Magdalena in Guatemala.

Magdalena Sosof, age 12, is in the 4th grade at The Good Shepherd Baptist School in Santiago, Guatemala and lives in Panabaj, a small village outside of Santiago. She has a brother and a sister, and they live with their parents in a house built with the help of Orphan Outreach. Magdalena’s mom suffers from epilepsy, but embroiders as a living and her dad sells wood. Magdalena enjoys embroidering with her mom and playing basketball. She hopes to be a teacher one day. By God’s provision, grace, and work through the efforts of Pastor Diego and Orphan Outreach, Magdalena’s hopes can someday be a reality.

Many children in Guatemala only hope to receive an education. Only five out of ten students who enter primary school in urban areas complete primary school, as opposed to only two out of ten in rural areas, such as Panabaj. In addition, only 24% of the country’s population attends secondary school. These children face multiple disadvantages in addition to a lack of education and high illiteracy rates including chronic poverty, high mortality, poor health, and undernutrition. According to UNESCO’s Education for All – Global Monitoring Report, 49% of children under 5 in Guatemala suffer from undernutrition.

Please be praying for Magdalena and her family and also for the other students at The Good Shepherd Baptist School, which just started this year. Pray for God to provide funding for operations, renovations, educational materials, and scholarships for students to attend school.
