Join Orphan Outreach in serving orphans and vulnerable children and families around the Lake Atitlan region of Guatemala. This team from High Pointe Community will build houses for families in rural villages and continue building relationships with the local church of El Buen Pastor. Guatemala is a beautiful country that is described as “the land of eternal spring” but is filled with tens of thousands children struggling in the face of extreme poverty. You will be changed forever by a visit to the country.
|
About Guatemala
UNICEF estimates that are over 370,000 orphans in Guatemala. Many of these children come from families facing extreme poverty; 70 percent of people in Guatemala live below the poverty level. Orphan Outreach ministers in Guatemala by partnering with local orphanages, churches, and Christian schools for children in extreme poverty situations. We also make it a priority to come alongside the Guatemalan nationals and work with them as they serve their own people.
|
Team Leader
Barrett Hartman, Ministry Volunteer, will lead the team in Guatemala. Barrett has led multiple trips to Guatemala with High Pointe and Orphan Outreach. He is committed to the work going on in Santiago and Cerro de Oro.

Land cost of $1450 is all-inclusive: all meals, lodging, in-country transportation, insurance, interpreters, bottled water, sightseeing, etc.

|
Please note that starting in 2013, all mission trip participants will need to cover the cost of their second checked baggage. When traveling internationally, most airlines allow passengers to carry two checked bags at 50 pounds maximum. Typically, your 1st checked bag is free and your 2nd bag costs approximately $40- $75, one way, depending on where you are traveling.
To save the cost of having to pay for the 2nd bag on the return flight home you can stuff a bag inside your other bag, or in some cases leave behind in your country of service. Otherwise, you will have to pay for your 2nd bag. Utilizing your 1st checked bag for personal use and your 2nd bag for humanitarian aid and supplies will ensure an empty bag that can be left behind or stowed inside your 1st bag for the return flight.
You can purchase an expandable, rollable duffle bag at Walmart for $15.
