Orphan Outreach Mission Backpack

A backpack may appear to be a simple gift. It is a gift that we as American's give our children every year. It marks an exciting time in the life of a child — the beginning of a new school year and a fresh start full of new opportunities.
This is not the case for orphan children living in poverty stricken communities around the world. For many of these children, the opportunity for a good education is often an unobtainable dream and the small gift of a simple backpack is unimaginable.
In early July, a team of Orphan Outreach staff and board members traveled to Guatemala to deliver the first Mission Backpacks.
"In one remote location, the orphans who received the backpacks had never had a bag to carry their books in to school," states trip volunteer Judy Williams. "For many of the children, it was the only new item they had ever recieved."
In addition to backpacks, the children were given the most important gift of being told they were loved by their heavenly Father, and He has not forgotten them.
